Alexei Pesegov


Alexei was born in 1953 in a remote Siberian village. At the age of 17 he began to work in a theatre, first as a stage hand and eventually as a production manager. In 1993 Alexei Pesegov graduated from the Yekaterinburg Theatre Institute as a director and in 1995 joined the Minusinsk Drama Theatre, first as a theatre director and then in 2010 became its artistic director. He staged over 20 productions, including Nina Sadur`s PANNOCHKA; Alexei Tolstoi`s KASATKA; Alexander Kuprin`s GARNET BRACELET; Anton Chekhov`s SEAGULL and CHERRY ORCHARD; William Shakespeare`s ROMEO AND JULIET; Alexei Dudarev`s THE PRIVATES; KATERINA'S OBSESSION, an adaptation of Nikolai Leskov's novella Lady Macbeth of Mstensk; Anatoly Mariengoff`s CYNICS; John Steinbeck`s OF MICE AND MEN; THE BLACK POPLAR, an adaptation of the novel by Alexei Cherkasov`s and Polina Moskovitina; Ivan Turgenev`s A MONTH IN THE COUNTRY; and Vladimir Gurkin`s SANYA, VANYA, RIMAS.
Alexei Pesegov’s productions have been honored with numerous awards, including the Golden Mask National Theatre Award.
