Georg Genoux
Artistic Director and founder of Joseph Beuys Theatre (Moscow); Artistic Director of the project Notruftheater (Berlin, Sophia, Skopje, Hamburg, Moscow); Artistic Director of Replica Theatre in Sophia.
Georg Genoux graduated from GITIS (Mark Zakharov’s workshop) and in 2000 was assistant director with Frank Castrof. In 2002 he took part in creating Teatr.doc and in 2009-2011 was in charge of Teatr.doc documentary programme. Genoux has staged over 70 productions in Russia, Germany, Ukraine and Bulgaria including “Democracy.doc”, “Transpolar Pravda”, “Artists Anonymous” (Teatr.doc and Joseph Beuys Theatre); “Sexual Neuroses of Our Parents”, “Baal”, “Natasha’s Dream (Playwright and Director’s Centre); “Drei Kameraden”, “We’re Doing Fine” (Saratov TYuZ); “The Broken Jar” (Chamber Theatre in Voronezh)… His project “CRISIS” (in association with Hebbel Theatre in Berlin) was featured in the program of the 7th Berlin Biennale in 2012. In 2011 The Moscow Times named Genoux “Man of the Year in Russian Theatre”.
At the Meyerhold Centre Genoux staged “Lear Is Rehearsing the Death”.
