Alexander Sozonov


Alexander Sozonov was born in 1983 in Izhevsk. In 2000 he created the youth theatre GOST. In 2002 Sozonov began working for the “A Young Man” theatre in Izhevsk. In 2005 he graduated from the Izhevsk Technical University and left for Czech Republic to study economics. In 2006 Alexander Sozonov founded the Prague Theatre “Studio-Ksi”, first Russian-language theatre in the Czech Republic. In the period before 2008 he staged a number of performances in Prague, such as “About Fedot-Strelets” (2006), “Morphia” (2006), “About Love” (2007) and “Young Men” (2007). He was admitted to MKhAT School, Kirill Serebrennikov department, and moved to Moscow in 2008. Some of Sozonov’s major works as a director at various theatres include: “Slow Sword” Playwright and Director Centre, Moscow; “The Rikotu Island” Drama and Playwright Theatre, Altai; “The Picture of Dorian Gray” Ermolova Theatre, Moscow; “Tuesday is a Short Day” Chekhov Centre, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk; “The Storm”, Chekhov Centre, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk; “The Gronholm Method”, Chekhov Centre, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. His production of THE STORM was nominated for the Golden Mask National Theatre Award 2020.
