Dmitry Krymov studied set design at the Moscow Theatre Art School. In 20 years of professional work in theatre he has designed over 100 productions including Shakespeare’s “Othello” directed by Anatoly Efros at the Malaya Bronnaya Theatre, J.-B. Moliere’s “Tartuffe” at the Moscow Art Theatre and Moliere’s “Misanthrope” at the Taganka Theatre. Krymov has worked in theatres in Moscow, Riga, Tallinn, Sophia, Tokyo, Paris… From 2004 to 2018 he has been the artistic director of the Laboratory at the School of Dramatic Art. His productions were staged at the School of Dramatic Art: “Sir Vantes”, “The Auction”, “Tara-Rara-Boom-De-Boom” based on Anton Chekhov; “Demon: View From Above”, “The Cow” based on Andrei Platonov; “Opus No. 7”, “The Death Of The Giraffe”, “Katya, Sonya, Polya, Galya, Vera, Olya, Tanya”, “In Paris” based on Ivan Bunin (a co-production with Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York); Shakespeare’s “As You Like It” and “The Midsummer Night`S Dream”, “Oh”. “Late Love” based on Alexander Ostrovsky; “Extempore. A. Pushkin Eugene Onegin”, “Russian Blues. Hunting For Mushrooms”, “Extempore. Gogol Dead Souls (The Story of a Present)”, “Without Dowry” based on Alexander Ostrovsky, name but a few. “Seryozha” based on Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, was staged at the Moscow Art Theatre. “Mumu” based on Ivan Turgenev`s writings, was staged at the Theatre of Nations, Moscow. In various years he has been a nominee and winner of the Golden Mask National Theatre Award.
