The festival Edinburgh Fringe in Moscow was held from 26 May till 5 June, 2008. The project was conceived and carried out by the Golden Mask Festival in cooperation with the British Council in Russia and with the support of the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography, and the Moscow Government. Sberbank of Russia acted as General Sponsor of the Festival.

The Project was curated by Marina Davydova, a leading Russian theatre critic.
The programme of Edinburgh Fringe in Moscow consisted of three British productions selected at the Edinburgh Fringe in the summer of 2007, including FLOATING by the Hoipolloi Theatre and Hugh Hughes Productions, PRESUMPTION by the Third Angel Company, and DAMASCUS by the Traverse Theatre. Edinburgh Fringe in Moscow also featured two Russian productions that participated in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in previous years and readings of five plays by playwright Mark Ravenhill.

Post-performance discussions, seminars and lectures on British theatre were attended by theatre specialists, theatre students and general public.

Managing and artistic directors of Russian theatre festivals and representatives of the Edinburgh Festival and the British Council were invited to take part in the roundtable discussion on various aspects of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, principals and policies of fringe festivals.
