THE WAY TO ENLIGHTENMENT
Buryat Drama Theatre, Ulan-UdeRitual, word, music, dramatic scenes in the Buryat performance are strung on a prevailing plot: it is the beginning of the 20th century, a young man says goodbye to his dying father. For the first time he discovers the mystery of death and the father blesses his son to study and search for a spiritual teacher. The biographies of Buddhist teachers of Buryatia and the quotations from a literary monument of Buryatia, the Mirror of Wisdom, and the precepts of the Buddhist reformer, Lubsan-sandal Tsydenov, were taken as a literary basis of the performance. Words are incredibly important in “The Way to enlightenment”, but nevertheless its ritual form fascinates also those who know nothing of the Buryat.

It is not a traditional play, monologue, philosophical debate. It is necessary for the actors to enter into a certain state through a training method ("Mantra training"), respiratory exercises in the system of the Tibetan yoga. It is a meditation performance.
