The remarkable small hall in the new building of Pyotr Fomenko Theatre on the Moskva River embankment opposite the Moscow City was opened with this performance in three parts.
The auditorium is really small there, but the entire theatre with its foyer, staircases and railing serve as a stage in it. Metamorphoses of this space are part of the plot in the "Triptych".
It is based on Pushkin’s works. The versified genre anecdote “Count Nuklin” is dramatized in the first part. It is about a Petersburg womanizer brought to a country house at a late hour,
where he finds a young bored house mistress while her husband is hunting in the woods.
The second part is «The Stone Guest», a Pushkin variation on the theme of Don Juan by Molière.
The third part is based on a short “Scene from Faust” and Joseph Brodsky's poem, deriding Goethe’s mysticism and Goethe's attempts at attributing a philosophical meaning to Faust's love affair.

The genre anecdote feeds the unrestrained theatrical imagination of the director.
In the second part he plays with space, simultaneously reinterpreting the conflict in “Don Juan”, Molière’s theomachist appears a toy in the hands of a woman.
"Faust" is a poisonous parody. In short, Fomenko's in his "Triptych" opposes
life poetry to art called “ennobling deceit” by Pushkin.
