This production is based on Mark Haddon’s famous novel about Christopher, a boy with Asperger syndrome.  He does not know how to follow the rules of the world and suffers betrayals and cruelty. But the production, directed by Danila Chashchin, illustrates not merely how difficult it is for an autistic person to live in our illogical world. A sub-plot reveals itself through the main story as if a mirror image. Christopher's loneliness and helplessness reflect the same characteristic seen in other people, starting with his parents.
The director communicates to us that the boy is an alien and a stranger by making him flounder above the stage and, figuratively, above ordinary life. The unsolvable problem of his loneliness is a metaphor of love and forgiveness being the most difficult things in life. The characters have to go a long and complicated way to find love and accept one another overcoming irritation, despair and guilt. The way to one’s first connecting touch a universal journey.
